By: Aimee Kereage, Community Partnerships Coordinator, Manchester Proud
Manchester Proud is a community movement focused on the making of exceptional public schools. No longer is it solely the responsibility of public education to do this, but for our community to grow and prosper we must all support and help drive positive outcomes for our students.
Manchester is rich in culture, history, industry, and determination. Our students need to see us unite for them, to come together and support them so that they can come together and succeed.
What does success look like? Depends upon your vantage point. How can you help, depends upon YOUR vantage point.
Community member, parent, grandparent?
- Volunteer – great community engagement starts with a first call or click to help support. Check out VolunteerNH or connect with your favorite nonprofit. Don’t know where to start reach out aimeek@manchesterproud.org about how to connect.
Business, civic groups?
- Commit to supporting a particular school. When we “adopt” a school we can talk directly to those schools, students, teachers, and staff to see what they want. Imagine they get to say specifically what their needs are.
A few other ideas that work perfectly for businesses, groups, churches etc.
- Host a drive – make it fun and make it impactful
- Volunteer for a day – get a group together to clean up a playground, lay mulch at a park, paint a mural
Together we can do great things!
We’ve developed the Manchester Proud Compass, which is essentially a HUB of partnerships and services for parents, teachers, and children in our community. We invite you to peruse and use this new tool, and share with your network. For more ideas, information and how you can make an impact contact Aimee at aimeek@manchesterproud.org.
