Early survey responses

We were back before the Manchester Chamber Board of Directors, one of our earliest supporters, this week with a progress update and an invite: We asked board members and their employees to complete a two-question survey that asks: What do students need to know and be able to do when they graduate? And, how can schools prepare them for success?

Responses will  help Manchester Proud create a plan to remodel our schools to make sure they have the supports to ready our students, and therefore our city, for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Early responses are below.

We are inviting everyone who lives or works in Manchester to complete the quick survey, so please share this with your Manchester friends, family, and colleagues. We’ve sent it to every Manchester educator and will be sharing it with every family with a child in the city school district.

The survey, which can be found at https://tinyurl.com/MSDVision will be open until late October.

So far, we’ve heard from 850 people, and they’ve named the following skills and knowledge as the most important to success:

  • College and career ready
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a growth mindset
  • Empathy and a multi-cultural sensitivity
  • Communication and collaboration
  • STEM skills

Board chairman Preston Hunter said the Manchester Chamber board remains committed to supporting Manchester Proud.
